We believe a Studio BE internship will help prepare our interns for a career in Chicago Theatre and we actively work with our interns to find them gainful employment after their internships conclude.

Interns from our first two seasons have gone on to find paid work with ATC, Chicago Shakespeare, Timeline, The Goodman, Pegasus, Light Opera Works, The House Theatre, Pegasus Players & Steppenwolf!

Studio BE is now seeking interns for our 2011/2012 season including The Velveteen Rabbit, & Les Miserable. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in working with youth.   • Theater Management Intern: Studio BE is seeking candidates for a Theater Management Internship. This position will work closely with the Executive Director and Outreach Director assisting them with daily administrative tasks, event planning, and managing the 13 weekly comedy performances occurring at Studio BE. The right candidate will have excellent communication skills, be excited by our mission, and able to work 10-15 hours a week mid September to mid December.
  • Technical Design Interns: Set, lights, sounds, costumes, make-up, stage management…pretty much every technical aspect you can think of, we can accommodate. Ideal candidates will be college juniors, seniors, or recent graduates majoring in design and who possess a hunger to dive into their design field. The right candidates may be asked to fill the official design positions, and should expect to assist with running & building the shows. One of Studio BE’s most breathtaking fingerprints of innovation is our technical design. Do your designs live outside the box? Perfect. Get over here! Ideal candidates will work extremely well in a collaborative environment, will take direction well, will be initiative-driven, and will be flexible. VELVETEEN RABIT (ages 7-13) runs in two locations December 8th-17th. LES MISERABLE will run late April/early May
  • Teaching/Instructor Interns: Studio BE is seeking an energetic, initiative-driven teaching interns to assist with both our in house programming, and various after school programs. FALL teaching inters must be available either Tuesday & Thursdays 3:00-7:30pm OR Mondays & Wednesdays 3:00-6:00pm from mid September to mid December. If applying for a teaching internship please include the performance skills you feel most capable of teaching, as well as those you would be interested in learning about. Those chosen will work closely with the Artistic Director or Executive Director in the classroom. Duties will vary depending on your skill set.
  • Comedy Club Rental Intern: Studio BE is seeking an intern who LOVES comedy, is incredibly personal, and who can work two or three evening a week house managing the venue, assisting with box office operations, promotions, and bookings. Studio BE hosts between 9-13 comedy events occurring weekly at our venue and new shows get booked each week. This internship will last 3 months starting in September and may lead to a paid position for the right candidate.
